Good News for Educational Programs

The Covid 19 pandemic is not entirely disappeared, especially in Indonesia. Indonesia is still running a vaccination program and has reached 65.25% for the first dose of vaccination and 43.65% for the second vaccination target of 208,265,720 people [Data from Ministry of Health on November 27, 2021, at 12.00 WIB]. The excellent news comes from the Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture regarding opening schools with face-to-face meetings. However, this must pay attention to health protocols that apply nationally. This face-to-face meeting is still limited and can be applied at schools in the PPKM areas level 1-3. “Especially those whose educators and education staff have been completely vaccinated.”

The Garut district area is at PPKM level 3 from what was initially at Level 2 because of the latest regulations regarding PPKM, where vaccinations must reach 50% to be said to be in the PPKM level 2 area. However, Garut Regency can still hold limited face-to-face meetings because it is at PPKM level 3. Garut Regency is the location where the Little Fireface Project is located, precisely in Cipaganti village. Therefore, we decided to visit schools in three nearby villages. They are Cipaganti village, Pemulihan village, and Panguban village to discuss the delayed environmental education programs due to the pandemic.

It turned out that the schools in the three villages we visited had limited face-to-face learning. We also have discussed with the principal in every school we visited to start our educational program activity, it is “Nature Club”, but we have to postpone it again because the children and teachers are focusing on end-of-semester activities and preparing for the year-end holidays. So we have to be patient until January 2022.

We can’t wait to run “Nature Club” sooner to meet children, play and learn together about wildlife, forest, and environmental conservation. Hopefully, next year all of us will get good news about face-to-face meetings so that the educational program can run optimally.

Pandemi Covid 19 belum dapat dikatakan sirna sepenuhnya khususnya di Indonesia. Indonesia masih menjalakan program vaksinasi dan telah menjangkau 65.25% pada vaksinasi dosis pertama dan 43.65% untuk dosis ke-2 dari target vaksinasi 208.265.720 orang [Data dari Menteri Kesehatan pada 27 November 2021, Pukul 12.00 WIB]. Kabar baik yang kami maksudkan didapatkan dari Menteri Pendidikan Indonesia tentang Pembukaan sekolah dengan tujuan pertemuan tatap muka walaupun hal ini harus memperhatikan protokol kesehatan yang berlaku secara nasional. Pertemuan Tatap muka ini masih diberlangsungkan secara terbatas dan dapat dilakukan pada sekolah yang berada di wilayah PPKM level 1-3. “Apalagi yang pendidik dan tenaga kependidikannya sudah divaksinasi secara lengkap”.

Wilayah kabupaten Garut berada pada PPKM level 3 dari yang semula berada pada Level 2. Hal ini dikarenakan adanya peraturan terbaru mengenai PPKM dimana vaksninasi harus mencapai 50% untuk dikatakan berada di wilayah PPKM level 2. Walaupun begitu Kabupaten Garut masih bisa melaksanakan pertemuan tatap muka terbatas karena berada pada PKM level 3. Kabupaten Garut adalah lokasi dimana Little Fireface berada tepatnya di desa Cipaganti. Oleh karena itu kami memutuskan untuk mengunjungi sekolah di tiga desa yaitu desa Cipaganti, desa Pemulihan dan desa Panguban untuk berdiskusi mengenai program pendidikan lingkungan yang tertunda akibat pandemik.

Ternyata sekolah yang berada di tiga desa yang kami kunjungi telah melakukan pembelajaran tatap muka terbatas. Hal ini merupakan kabar yang menggembirakan karena kami dapat mulai merencanakan kegiatan edukasi kami untuk berkunjung ke sekolah-sekolah memperkenalkan tentang satwa, hutan dan lingkungan. Kami telah berdiskusi dengan kepala sekolah di setiap sekolah yang kami kunjungi untuk memulai kegiatan program pendidikan kami yaitu “Nature Club” tetapi kami harus menundanya kembali karena anak-anak dan guru fokus pada kegiatan akhir semester dan bersiap untuk menyambut liburan akhir tahun. Sehingga kami harus bersabar hingga January tahun 2022.

Secepatnya kami ingin menjalankan program edukasi kami kembali dan bertemu dengan anak-anak untuk bermain dan belajar bersama mengenai konservasi satwa liar, hutan, dan lingkungan. Semoga saja tahun depan kita semua mendapatkan kabar yang gembira tentang pertemuan tatap muka seutuhnya sehingga program edukasi dapat berlangsung secara maksimal.
