The largest population in Indonesia is on the island of Java, which is inhabited by 151.59 million people, or 56.10% of the population in Indonesia (Badan Pusat Statistika, 2020). The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (2015) stated that the forest in Java Island has an area of ​​129,600.71 km2 (12,960,071 Ha), the forest area is 3,135,648.70 Ha (± 24% of the total area of ​​Java Island), with forest cover +19%. The forest consists of protected forest (735,194,560 Ha), production forest (1,812,186,050 Ha) and conservation forest (76,065,304 Ha).

Dalam laman berita Good News From Indonesia (2018) menyebutkan bahwa Hutan di Indonesia pada saat ini masih menduduki urutan ketiga terluas di dunia dengan jumlah hutan tropis dan hutan hujan Kalimantan dan Papua. Little Fireface Project berada di Jawa Barat Indonesia dan dekat dengan gunung Papandayan. Dalam Prasetyo et.al. (2009) juga menyebutkan bahwa terjadi perubahan akibat deforestasi yang terletak di lereng curam yang tenang dan lereng gunung berapi yang curam masing-masing adalah 31,5% dan 40,1%.
