Join our Little Fireface Project team of 3 postdoctoral researchers, 4 PhD students, 5 MSc students, 2 coordinators, 5 trackers, and other field staff, as well as an active conservation department within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Oxford Brookes University. We are hiring a full-time researcher for a Global Challenges Fund Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Oxford Brookes University is hiring a full-time postdoctoral fellow for 2 years, with the possibility to carry on for a third year, to work part time in Oxford, and part time in Java Indonesia in collaboration with Universitas Gadjah Mada, to examine the impact of wildlife friendly crop production on the diversity of insect and mammal pollinators and seed dispersers, including the Critically Endangered Javan slow loris.
Java is one of of the most heavily populated islands on earth, and understanding the impact of farming practices on wildlife and on sustainability of crops is essential to food and financial security. The fellow will be involved in ecological monitoring (including entomological and botanical plots), radio telemetry studies of nocturnal mammals (including GIS analysis and modelling), and will help to facilitate the branding of Wildlife Friendly Enterprise Network products in Java for international export. The fellow will also be responsible for producing high quality publications with appropriate data analysis, fund raising and report writing, and mentoring students.
This project forms part of the long-term research of Professor Anna Nekaris, and is funded by the Global Challenges Fund Initiative. The deadline for this post is 10 August 2018. Applications are permitted from those allowed to work in the EU only. The fellow will also apply for research permission to work in Indonesia. More information on the postdoctoral fellowship can be found here.
